NEWS FLASH: This is the last WWIV Utility I will be writing, since after spending countless hours upgrading the applications from 2.0 to 3.0 (and the last two minor upgrades), I have received NO support from any sysops. Unless I see some response from anyone, there will be no more upgrades. I╒m sorry, but I just don╒t have time any more to work on these programs for free.
Some things that might have come in future versions(and may still if you support it):
Support for future Apple multi-tasking OS. (the current version will work under juggler, but since it doesn╒t recognize windows or DA╒s, there is no way to switch from it to another application without quitting the Util).
Desk Accessory support
Storing the pathname of the BBS app, so you only need to select it the first time you run the Utils, and it will remember where it is from then on. (Unless you move it around)

Although I have tested all portions of the program thoroughly and removed all bugs I╒ve found, I take NO responsibility for any data loss caused by any of the programs. You should always backup important BBS files before doing anything which cannot be easily fixed.
And a note about shareware- All of these utilities were written to be a help to WWIV sysops, and can be distributed freely as long as this file is included with them. If you use these applications regularly, a contribution of $15 is required and will give me further reason to continue writing other helpful programs. I have not had much response at all from the first 2 versions(only 2 registered users), and will probably not continue to spend my time working on these utils if no one else shows their interest.

Now to the programs!!
First the 2 new Desk Accessories, in the WWIV DA╒s file. You can add these to your system file using Apple╒s Font/DA mover.
Once the either or both DA╒s are installed, you can choose one by selecting it under the apple menu. It will install its menu on the menu bar. The menu will stay around as long as the BBS is running, but you will have to re-select the DA if you quit to the finder and re-run the BBS.
WWIV WFC HELP- this DA lets you select menu choices instead of pressing keyboard commands at the main WFC level (where it says Waiting...). All of the commands that work are listed, and choosing the menu has the same effect as pressing the corresponding key.
WWIV ONLINE HELP- the second DA is for use will a user is online on the BBS. It allows you to make menu selections for the special function keys (Option-1, etc.). Again, selecting the menu choice acts as if you hit the appropriate key sequence on the keyboard. For example, choosing Security Level from the menu makes WWIV think you typed Option-1 and then allows you to change the users security level.
You can use either or both of these DA╒s, they do not have any conflicts if installed at the same time or separately. However, don╒t forget, the WFC commands only work when there is no user on the board, and the Online commands will work only if there IS someone online.(Using either in the wrong place will just print characters to the screen)
now to the MAIN WWIV UTIL APPLICATION:
NOTE: Most of subutilities are version 3.0, with exceptions as noted (Leech Build is 3.02, as well as a couple others) and use similar conventions for finding certain files in your WWIV directories. After you have selected your BBS file upon boot, each utility uses pathnames found in that application. Because of this, there is no need to paste any extra resources into the utility, simply run it as is.
I will go through the program a menu item at a time, and example each choice.
FILE MENU
---------
Show about boxes is an option which can be turned off once you are familar with the utilities, and will cause the program to automatically go to the subutility when you choose it from a menu, and not display the about box for that menu.
The status of Show About is saved when you quit WWIV utils, so you only need turn it off (or on) once, it will retain its state after you quit.

BUILD LEECH FILE
This subprogram will create a text file which can be added to the Gfiles section to allow all users to see the upload/download statistics for other users. Select the amount of upload credit a message post is worth(how many K is given per post) and whether the final file should be sorted by name or ratio. The file will be
created and saved in the Gfiles subdirectory with a name you specify. Add this file to the Gfiles section using the WFC commands within WWIV.
(note- after you have added the file to the Gfiles the first time, you needonly re-run the LeechBuild app to update the gfile- it will replace the current text file and you don╒t have to add the file again through WFC)
DELETE OLD USERS
The Old User delete subprogram will delete users who have not called since a certain date (which you enter). For each user that has not called since the set date, you will be asked whether to delete them (y or n). As users are deleted, their email is also deleted and the Names.lst file and Status file are updated.
EDIT USERS
This is a mac-interface based editor for the User file in WWIV bbs. It allows you to edit nearly all statistics of any user. At the edit dialog, you may enter either the User╒s name or user number and then click EDIT to edit his stats. The NEXT and PREVIOUS buttons advance to the next and previous User# respectively.
All changes made to users are saved when you hit the OK button on the main statistics dialog. If you click OK after deleting a user, all of his Email is also deleted(any sent from or to him). If you have deleted/undeleted or changed names of any users, when you click DONE, the names.lst file will be re-sorted to include the new user names and the Status file will be updated with the correct number of users.
SET GLOBAL RESTRICTIONS
This is utility will allow you to globally set the restriction flags for all users. Click on all restrictions you want to set. EVERY USER╒s restrictions will be set to these defaults. Not only will the flags you have selected be set, but those that are not selected will be cleared. Ie. setting 2 logons to YES (checked) and leaving all other values unchecked, every user will have his 2 logons flag set True, and all other flags set to False.

DELETE NON-EXISTANT FILES
This utility will search all of your upload file sections for files which exist in the file entry but have to no real file existing on the Mac disk. These file entries are then deleted from the file sections.
BUILD TOP TEN DOWNLOADS
This utility is similar to Leechbuild in that it creates a file to be added to your Gfiles section through WFC. Enter the minimum date to consider files for the top ten downloads list. Only files that were uploaded AFTER the date you enter will be considered. The list will be sorted in order of the number of times each file is downloaded, and saved in the Gfiles subdirectory with a name you specify.

EDIT STATUS FILE
This program allows you to edit the Status file in the gfiles directory. This lets you change things like system password, number of users, and the number of the last message posted (useful if your Quickscan gets screwed up).
BUILD SYSTEM NEWS
The final program will build a random system news for you to put in your Gfiles section. It reads from a file called Logon.Stuff( which you must place in your Gfiles directory) and randomly generates a system news with the current date. An example file is included in the packit file, and the complete file format is listed in the about box for this subutility.
If you do not include the LOGON.STUFF file in the GFILES directory, the proram will give you an error, and you must exit and copy the file into the appropriate directory.
NOTE- if you don╒t have the file in your directory, a bogus 0k LOGON.STUFF file will be created, just copy over it.
